Interior painting in Whitestone

A room refresh can involve more than choosing a color. Identify the exact surfaces and the finish you want so the proposed work is clear.

Walls, ceilings, and trim are separate surfaces

List each surface you want included. A wall repaint does not automatically include ceilings, doors, baseboards, closets, or window trim. Photograph details where different finishes meet and point out areas you want left untouched.

For stairs or tall spaces, describe the ceiling height and access. Do not climb or remove fixtures to take estimate photos. Safe access and the accepted scope need to be established before a work plan is confirmed.

Look at the finish under everyday light

Gloss and texture affect how a wall looks after painting. Side lighting can emphasize previous patches or uneven surfaces; a new coat of paint does not necessarily hide them. Include both a wide room photo and a close view where the light catches the wall.

If you are coordinating several rooms, send one list with room dimensions, current colors, proposed colors, and any rooms that need to remain usable during the project.

Agree on preparation and protection

Discuss furniture, floors, surfaces that need protection, and who supplies paint. The estimate should distinguish the agreed preparation from additional repairs or work requiring another qualified business.

This page covers standalone interior painting. Include any patching, carpentry, plumbing, or other work in the original request rather than treating it as a separate paint-only job. Peeling, damaged, damp, or potentially lead-painted surfaces require a condition and scope review before preparation is promised. Do not disturb suspect paint to prepare estimate photos.

Questions before booking

Is trim included with a room repaint?

Only if it is included in the agreed scope. List trim, doors, closets, and ceilings separately so the estimate is clear.

Can a higher sheen hide wall damage?

A paint finish is not a substitute for repair, and more reflective finishes can emphasize unevenness. Share close-up photos before a coating plan is chosen.

What should I send for several rooms?

Label each room, include dimensions and photos, and identify the surfaces and color changes for each.
